Frequently Asked Questions

How do I log a new catch?

To log a new catch, tap the "+" button in the Catches tab. Fill out the details of your catch including species, weight, length, and location. You can also add a photo directly from your camera or photo library.

Can I edit my catches after saving them?

Yes! To edit a catch, simply tap on it in your catch list, then make any changes you need and tap "Save Catch".

How do I use the map location feature?

When logging a catch, tap the "Pick a Location" button in the location section. This will open a map where you can select the exact spot of your catch. Your selection will be saved with precise GPS coordinates.

Does the app work offline?

SaltWater Scout allows you to log catches offline. However, features like tide information require an internet connection. Your catches will sync when you're back online.

How do I access tide information?

Go to the Tides tab in the app to view tide stations. You can add your favorite stations and view current tide predictions.

Troubleshooting

The app is crashing

Please ensure you have the latest version of SaltWater Scout installed. If crashes persist, try restarting your device. If the issue continues, please contact support with details about when the crash occurs.

Location services aren't working

Check that you've granted SaltWater Scout permission to access your location. Go to your device's Settings > Privacy > Location Services to verify.

Can't save photos

Ensure that SaltWater Scout has permission to access your camera and photo library. Check your device's Settings > Privacy > Camera/Photos.
